The Cookstown District is an ideal fishing location; the keen angler has a range of river sites and Loughs to choose from. There are a large variety of fish available including salmon, trout, roach, perch, eel and Dollaghan, -a species unique to the area. Fishing in the district can be enjoyed on the Ballinderry River which flows east through Cookstown district and into Lough Neagh. Lough Fea is a linear expanse of water covering 180 acres and situated five miles North of Cookstown on the Draperstown Road and south east of the Sperrin Mountains. Roughan Lough is situated about two miles south west of Stewartstown on the Newmills Road and covers an area of 48 acres. Rainbow trout fishing is excellent at Roughan Lough. The Lough is easily accessible from a path which stretches around most of the shore
